Pro Bono Services Policy

We are dedicated to expanding access to justice. A vital part of our firm's mission is providing free and significantly discounted legal representation to vulnerable individuals who lack the financial means to retain private counsel.

Pro Bono (No Cost) Representation

We prioritize fully pro bono assistance for sensitive humanitarian cases. Our pro bono docket typically includes:

Cases involving unaccompanied minor children in removal proceedings.
Individuals seeking asylum based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Individuals who have previously hired an immigration lawyer who took their money without providing services or provided ineffective assistance of counsel.
Children seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) who lack the financial means to retain counsel.
Victims of crimes seeking to obtain U Nonimmigrant status.
Single parent families in removal proceedings who lack the financial means to obtain legal counsel.
Individuals seeking asylum based on their HIV+ status, which would put them in danger if returned to their country of birth due to discrimination or lack of adequate treatment.
Individuals detained by ICE who have serious medical conditions that are not being adequately treated in custody.

Low Bono (Discounted Rate) Representation

For those who do not qualify for pro bono services but face significant financial hardship, our "low bono" services start at a 50% reduction from our typical fees. These are evaluated on a case-by-case basis for:

Individuals whose household income is below the poverty guidelines.
Immediate family members of active duty members of the armed forces.
Individuals who are willing to volunteer with our community outreach programs or assist on our pro bono cases.
Immediate family members of law enforcement officers.

If your case aligns with our current capacity and focus areas, our staff will contact you to complete a financial assessment and schedule an initial review.

While we are deeply committed to serving the community, our office cannot take every case. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee representation or create an attorney-client relationship. All pro bono and low bono cases are reviewed and accepted strictly on a case-by-case basis depending on the following criteria:

Capacity: Our current availability and capacity to take on new cases while maintaining the highest standard of representation for all clients.
Viability: Whether or not we believe, based on a preliminary legal assessment, that we will actually be able to help you achieve a successful outcome.
Suitability: The extent of the legal work involved and whether our attorneys are the people best suited to handle the specific complexities of the matter.
Urgency: The severity of the matter, pressing deadlines, and the level of immediate danger to the applicant.
